Celebrate Yourself
We have lots of days celebrating in our society. Martin Luther King Jr, Memorial day, Fourth of July, Presidents’ day, and Arbor day: all of which are deserve the celebration. How often do we celebrate ourselves? Many times celebration is the last thing on our minds.
“I’m not smart enough.”
“They’ll never choose me for the promotion.”
“Other people are more attractive than me.”
“I’m not good enough.”
Do any of these sound familiar? They all have one thing in common; THEY ARE A LIE.
You are always enough. There is no one quite like you and this world is a better place because you are in it.
Wherever you are while reading this, my encouragement is to pause for a moment, close your eyes and take three deep breaths.
Please know that even if I have never spent time with you, laughed with you, or talked to you; you are valued and worthy of great things.
Celebrate youself and your existence today. This may be taking time for yourself to rest and rejuvenate. Going for a walk. Getting adjusted. Getting a massage. Doing yoga. Doing what brings ease into your life. It may be calling a friend and having a laugh. And it may be investing in yourself in the way you have been putting off until “someday”.
A Simple Practice
And if you have difficulty believing me, here is a simple practice:
1. Go up to a mirror in your house
2. Look yourself deep in the eyes.
3. Repeat “I am more than enough.” Repeat it as many times as necessary.
Odds are you will find this incredibly weird, funny, or maybe even stupid. Do it anyway. Do it as many times per day, or per week as needed. Because it is the truth. And its time we all remember it. So stop beating yourself up and begin to celebrate yourself a little more each day.
